How long should I wait to take a pregnancy test?

My period is always late and never predictable. I was wondering how long I should wait to take a pregnancy test...I freak out every month and take one...and that's getting a little ridiculous. How long is the appropriate amount of time to wait before getting concerned?

A week at least. If you are irregular (you aren't late you are irregular) you won't ever have a clear time for when you should get your period. My advice double up on birth control and stop stressing out. My double up I mean a condom and birth control pills or the patch or something not two condoms. Start tracking your cycles. Mark the day you start your period on the calendar you will start to get an average as each month goes by and that will help you figure out your cycle a little more. Relax.
