How long of a process is it to get my insurance payout due to whiplash?

Well last Friday i was in my dads truck (passenger side) alone parked in downtown Vegas. The guy in front was going to pull out in to traffic but didn't put his truck back in to drive so he basically floored it into reverse onto the front of my dads truck. Anyways i didn't feel it at the time but 2 days later the back of my neck was swollen so i told my mom. She worked in insurance back in the late 80s in LA and told me its normal for injuries to be felt days after and she purposely waited to see if my neck would hurt cuz she had a hunch it might. ANYWAYS, we went to a lawyer and he said that im going to need to see a chiropractor which surprisingly he set me up with an hour later. She said ya i have soft tissue injury. Off the bat he was mentioning figures in the 10,000s range. Apparently this could have long term affect which i pray it doesn't cuz i hurts like a biotch lol.. So can anyone tell me how long it might be until this is settled and i receive my money? And if anyone knows how much i might get? Im 16 so i know i wont legally get it until im 18 but i know they do give me a small portion for now. AGAIN, has anyone gone through this? And what was the outcome? THANKS A MILL.. :)
Well i know the insurance has already made an offer off i think 4500 and my lawyer said to decline decline decline because the longer you wait the more and more they offer.

When you tell an insurnace company " whiplash" and "Chiropractor" they have a tendency to say BULL--- andf will either drag it out until you throw in the towel or they will make a ridiculously low offer and sday " take it or leave it".

They may be willing to pay your medical bills, but extra cash, good luck.

And have you asked your lawyer what his fees are!
Look, whiplash injuries are pretty much a joke and the bane of everyone's lives because 99% of people FAKE the injury. It's not like a broken bone or a cut that is visible, heck, it doesn't even show on an x ray.
Be careful, going to court could see you with nothing more than enough to cover your medical bills and NOT ENOUGH to cover your lawyers bills! Be warned! Lawyers don't care if you win or lose (unless they agree to take their fee as a % of the settlement, usually like 40%) they get paid either way. And the longer he acts for you, the more he can and will charge you!
