my son has been sick for almost a month. the week after christmas he was sick, took him to the dr and they said it was a viral infection. took him back the next week on tuesday, they said he had an ear infection and put him on an antibiotic. he had been throwing up and running a fever. thursday came and he was still throwing up and running a fever and had a horrible cough, ended up having to take him to the ER bc he couldnt look up. they said his other ear was infected and the original ear that was infected looked like it wasnt healing at all, so they gave him a shot of a strong antibiotic. after that he was ok for about 4 days but the whole time before that he had been on 2 antibiotics and motrin. after that 4 or 5 days he was better he just got sick again. i took him back to the dr and they said he had tonsilitis but his ears were better. they put him on ANOTHER antibiotic. that night his fever got up to 105.0 so i took him to the ER. they said his ears were NOT good, that they had pus behind the ear drums and that the left drum was bulging. his tonsils were swollen and covered with puss. he now has spots on his tounge and white blotches on the inside of his lips. i have been to the dr/er a total of 5 times in the past month and he has been on 4 antibiotics and he is STILL running a fever, its not high but thats only bc i am rotating tylenol and motrin every 3 hours. he has been taking motrin for almost a month. i dont know what to do anymore. they have ran a strep, flu and mono test and everything has come back negative. can somebody please give me a suggestion on what to have the doctor test for. oh he also had chest xrays bc his cough is so bad and they came back normal also. i just think that he should not still be sick and it breaks my heart to see him this way.
