How long is the average hospital stay for someone that got hit by a car going 40 mph?

Let's say someone who is suicidal jumps in front of a car going 40 mph. My guess is they'll be sent to the hospital. My question is though, how long will they be in the hospital for?

I know details will vary, but could someone give me an average hospital stay length?

It's for a story I'm writing and I'd like the details to be as accurate as possible.
