I went to an ENT about 3 weeks ago because I was having trouble swallowing and felt like I have a lump in my throat. The ENT said I have acid reflux and a polyp on my vocal corRAB. He prescribed a Medrol steroid pack for 6 days and prevacid. I finished the steroiRAB and was feeling great and the polyp went away then I forgot to take the Prevacid for 2 days. Then the trouble swallowing and choking feeling started again. The doc prescribed me another dose of steroiRAB so I am taking that and still taking Prevacid. How long before the swallowing problems go away and can acid reflux really cause it? I have occasional burning in my stomach and chest but mainly just the swallowing problem. I feel like my throat has gotten smaller at the bottom but my doc just says it is reflux. He wants me to come back in 6 weeks to recheck. Does anyone have this problem?? I have no trouble swallowing when I am eating or drinking really. Just mainly other times. My biggest weakness is soda. I have not stopped drinking that yet and maybe I have erosions or something that won't heal because of that? I just want to be able to swallow normally!!!!!

PPI's work a bit differently for everyone. It is difficult to say how long it takes to work.

Read through the threaRAB on this reflux board with the term LPR. There are many people here who have the lump in throat feeling and difficulty swallowing.

If you do have reflux. It is important that you stop drinking your soda. Your diet does effect how much reflux you have.

Keep us posted on your progress
