Hi,

My boyfriend stopped smoking pot about 6 months ago. he used to be a heavy user, pretty much every day, especially on weekenRAB. he used it along with drinking. he smoked pot for more than 20 years before he had to quit. he quit because his work started a random drug test policy so he quit before getting tested.

Its been 6 months. he seems to be getting crankier, more irritated especially with me lately. I dont think i have changed or am doing anything wrong. he's been really acting angry at the world. when he smoked pot it gave him energy. he used to be so "happy" and now...mr angry:mad:

how long does it take for someone to get over the psychological addiction?
BTW- he is a cancer survivor- so when he stopped the pot he turned to cigarettes, and I got upset...so upon my urging he stopped those too.

?????help????

randy's gal,
Addiction is neverending honey, it's a illness. They will always crave it. And they have to fight real hard to keep from picking that habit back up again. I know my hubby did it for over 20 years as well and 2 yrs. ago he quit. And believe me when I tell you it wasn't easy for any of us. But he went to NA and kept up on it. Will he stop being angry, he will in time. Can I tell you when NO I can't it depenRAB on the person. I can tell you that he can't do this alone. And it will be hard at times to support him, but hang in there it does get easier. Does he have a sponser and go to NA? Does he have any other help besides you? It helps when there are others like himself to talk to. And alot of addicts will pick up something new to replace the old one. Not saying it will happen to him, but relapse is possible as well. We are all human and error all the time. But you just pick up the pieces and try to move forward. Just remeraber it isn't gonna be easy. There is help too in NA for loved ones like you and I to help you understand the process and all. Just reach out. You will be in my prayers and I hope this helped someway. Be Strong Together and you will get through this.
