How long does it take to join the Army?

I've been in the process of enlisting for a month and my "packet" is just being sent off. How long does it take for this "packet" to be approved and after that how long before I'm in basic. As much detail as possible would certainly be appreciated. Thanks!
 
Nhits has it right to add to it for me i got a quick ship bonus and it took me 2 weeks total-- and i shipped to basic 4 days after my first MEPS and to top it off i was deployed right after AIT you cant get a quicker ticket overseas then i got :)
but for most it can be as long as a year waiting for a slot or wavier
 
Two seconds. Even after you recite the oath,orally, you can still back out.
After you sign the oath, your ass belongs to uncle.
I signed the oath at 5pm and was in Ft.Leonard Wood by 10pm, but that was back when your base pay was $78.00 a month.
