How long does it take to get Fired for Internet Misuse?

I've been misusing the Internet since I started my job. I didn't know about the tracking software they have!!!

Its been a good 8 months now, and I've spent lots of time on the Internet doing non-work related stuff!! I'm terrified now...

How long does it usually take to get fired for this stuff? I'm sick to my stomach...
 
you would have been "shown the door" by now if your use was of concern. i would not visit any "sensitive" sites during your web browsing. many security/ network monitoring applications are set to trigger when/ if certain domain names are accessed.
 
I'm sure it depends on when your employer decides that you are no longer necessary in the scheme of their company. If you do get fired for it..take your lumps and go on. You've learned your lesson so you know not to do it again. These days your employer probably knows the last time you brushed your teeth.
