How long does it take to complete one cycle (refrigeration)?

So ... just learned the refrigeration process a few days ago.

1. Adiabatic Compression (gas gets compressed..)
2. Thermal Equilibrium. (ride through the pipes)
3. Adiabatic Expansion. (gas goes through the expansion valve)
4. Thermal Equilibrium. (pipes, again)

Now, I was wondering, how long does it take to actually complete all four steps once? He never stated it, and I'm just dying to know.

Since, I'M just assuming that for step two, the gas flies by the pipes so fast that thermal equilibrium doesn't have time to finish (my teacher said it took about a minute to get into equilibrium). Am I totally wrong? Also, If the gas DOES have time to go through with thermal equilibrium, will it just be warm or will it be at the room's temperature?

Sorry for the silly questions ._.
