Unless you have multi region then some films come out on dvd in other countries before they have even played at cinemas here, or they are just in cinemas and so on.
There is no set gap.
DVD's of blockbusters tend to be released at holiday time.
A poor cinema performance may change the dvd schedule.
If a film does badly in the US its UK cinema release can be cancelled and it would go straight to dvd.
Its not quite so common these days but there are still instances of films being available on R1 dvd either before or during the UK cinema release
