How long does each virgin mobile airtime card last?

hello, i have been using net10 for a while and was happy because of the cheap minutes but i really needed unlimited messaging. i saw the virgin mobiles minute cards either match or beat the amount of minutes net10 offers plus they offer 20 dollar unlimited texting. but how long does each airtime card last? and is the texters delight option prepaid or do i get a bill? thanks
