My mare has a puncture in the sole of her hoof from a nail. I have been soaking her foot in Epsom Salt and got it to drain and have been cleaning out the hole daily. I have been applying an Epsom Salt poultice and keeping it wrapped as well. She is walking much better now that it drained, the hole is a little larger than the size of a toothpick. The nail was about 3/4 of an inch long. How long should I keep her foot wrapped and how long will it take for the puncture to heal? Thanks for some insight.
