How long do you have to wait between signing up for US Coast Guard and beginning

Boot Camp? i'm looking to sign up for the US Coast Guard tomorrow and there are two questions i would like more input on.

First, what kind of time frame am i looking at after signing up? will it be a few months before i can begin boot camp or is it a faster process?

Second, after graduating Boot camp and being assigned somewhere what are the daily hours like?
I have no problem working all day everyday but im hoping to have a few hours now and then take off to the beach.

Also, kind of a similar question, im just looking for input, how was your experience on a day to day basis?
