Well at the least, stabbing someone is in general considered a felony. All felonies carry a sentence of at least 365. So at the very least, a year.

A misdemeanor tends to carry a sentence of 365 days or less. So depending on the circumstances, the defense, previous record and the criminal code for that particular jurisdiction, it could vary.

But as a rule of thumb. Felony = Year+
Misdemeanor = A year or less.
 
depends on the competancy of the Police and the State Attorney's office.....the victim may not even pursue charges.....never bring a knife to a gun fight anyways.....nowadays, there are MANY people who pack heat......
