How long do I wait to put the top coat on my nails?

I love doing my nails. My nails are too short so I use fake nails.I use KISS fake nails and fake nails from sally's beauty shop. But every time I put nail polish on them and I wait 2 mins I touch it lightly to see if I can put the clear top coat on it leaves a finger print. So I have to re-paint it I wait 4 mins but it still leaves a finger print. So how long do I have to wait until I can put on the clear top coat?
