How Long Do I Have To Wait Before I Can Get Financial Aid For College?

Right now I'm living in Georgia, But I'm moving to Florida pretty soon. I'm planning on attending college there. I want to apply for financial aid, but I heard I would have to be a resident there for at least a year.
