It goes beyond sadistic. Even a sadist would have plenty of time to get bored and move on to something else. The worst serial killers will get tired of torturing people eventually and will decide to put an end to it.

One billion years. (And that's nothing, of course, compared to eternity):
That's 365 billion days.
If you bring back every day to one minute, that's still about 2000 years; i.e, 2000 years where every minute represents a full day.
