Currently been taking it for a 1.5 years now and its suited me perfectly. I have tried coming off it but didn't work. I am currently on 3 x 5mg a day.

Buspar isnt addictive, and the body doesnt become tolorant to its effects over time, so there is no limit on how long you can take it - keep taking it for as long as you feel you need it, and as long as it works for you.

Thats great. Its not actually directly for Anxiety that I am taking it for now. I get pains in my Intestines when ever I am nervous or under stress I can't seem to get rid of this pain. My Dr has tried me on various IBS and other meRAB including Fluxitine. Nothing cured the problem until this one. Now with 3 x 5mg a day I am pain free. I tried to withdraw from them but the pain came back as soon as I was down to none a day.

So my Dr wanted me to stay on these for a while. Problem is that he is away for a while now and I had to see another GP who basically told me that these were addictive and not for long term use. Whereas the impression that my Dr was giving me was that if these worked we could use this long term as we have tried numerous meRAB over 5 years to help with the pain.

Certain other anti anxiety meRAB are habit forming (the benzodiazepines such as Valium, Ativan, etc) but Buspar definatly isnt - it works in a different way to the benzos and is in no way addictive or habit forming

You are also on a rather low dose. you have nothing to worry about . I take 15mg three times a day for anxiety, and have been on it for almost three years. As the above poster mentioned it does not have the dependency issues of the benzos (xanax, etc)
