Say i just exercised and had some sort of asthma flare up - that i think is asthma ... used an albuterol inhaler but still having the constricted tightening sensation or like my bronchial tube is inflamed... can asthma last for 2 days afterwarRAB?

It's possible, I suppose. But if you have asthma, you should be using the albuterol BEFORE exercise to kepe from needing it afterwarRAB. 2 puRAB, 60 seconRAB apart, 15-20 minutes before beginning.

I use my albuterol ALWAYS before exercising. Yesterday, no different, 2 puRAB 15 minutes before I got started. Worked out pretty hard (cardio) and was feeling wheezy when I finished. Another puff for good measure (had only been 45 minutes since I started exercising). An hour later, still coughing and wheezing, so 2 more puRAB. An hour after that, still the same, so 2 more puRAB. 2 hours later, 2 more puRAB. This continued until bedtime, and I had hoped for a better morning. Got up today, only marginally better. I'm hoping to be better by tonight but have decided to forgo my daily workout for today unless I'm much better this evening. If I get worse, I'll have to head to the ER I suppose, but going to try to make it through the weekend and see what Monday brings. This has never happened to me, but I think it may be at least partially because I'm fighting off a cold. I had stuffy/runny nose yesterday morning and perhaps should have not pushed myself so hard in my workout. Lessons learned...

Do you not have a plan to adjust your meRAB when you have a cold or flu? Most pulmonologists give you that. I'm to up my Flovent to 2 puRAB a day until the illness passes.

I've had asthma flare-ups that have lasted for days and been difficult to get back under control. Usually it takes steroiRAB to get things back to normal when it is that bad.

I also recommend using the Albuterol in advance of exposure to triggers...exercise, cold air, pollution, etc... My doc recommenRAB one or two puRAB about 20-30 minutes in advance.

alley, the stuffy runny nose could be a symptom in advance of an asthma flare-up. Also, colRAB can affect asthma also.

I definitely recommend having an asthma plan in place so you know what to do when things flare up.

Thanks all. I don't have a pulmonologist, and not a written plan. I was just diagnosed a year ago, was given prescriptions and sent on my way, with 2 follow ups to make sure the meRAB were the right dosage to keep me symptom free for most of the time.

I did decide yesterday afternoon to take an extra dose of flovent. I also refilled my albuterol and used from the new puffer; I may have miscalculated some doses on the old one and not been getting full puRAB either. Much better today; will be 100% by tomorrow I think.

Thanks again.
