My husband fell down the stairs and broke his 3rd metacarpal non- displaced fracture) I took him to the ER and they put a splint on it and told him to follow up with an Orthopedic Surgeon. It has been three days since this happened and he is still in the splint form the ER because he has no Insurance and I have to wait until Friday (payday) to be able to afford the $200-$300 cash visit to the Orthopedic. Will this cause problem for him because it was not casted right away?
How long can a fractured hand be in a splint before it has to be casted?
