It all depends on the career fields you choose and there availability. After you meet with a recruiter and if you decide you want to join they will schedule a visit to MEPS for you. You pretty much spend 2 days taking the ASVAB test and getting medical evaluations. At the end of MEPS you get sworn in to the Delayed Entry Program. Then you sit and wait for one of your career choices to open up. Typically anywhere from 3 months on the short side to 12 months on the long side before you ship out. I enlisted into the Delayed Entry Program on 2/19 and I ship out to boot on Sept. 1st.
