How long after my court date will my pre-trial diversion program start?

I got charged with a possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and a paraphernalia charge but my paraphernalia charge is being dropped but I'm going to declare that i am applying for the pre-trial diversion program next wednesday. How long after that court date will my pre-trial diversion program actually start? I've heard by many that the process is slow and can take up to months to start
