A 17 year old girl becomes rebellious after her parents ignore her because of her 10 year old sister's down's syndrome.
She likes to paint and she does it very well, but has lost a passion for it. She also likes to sit on her roof when she climbs out of her window and stare at the evening sky.
One night she goes to a party and almost gets raped by her annoying ex when a boy saves her. She forgets about him after a few days but then notices while sitting on her roof that he's her neighbour that just moved in a week ago. His family friends lived here and his family friend invited him to the party. She didn't really almost get "raped". Her drunk ex was just annoying her and touching her.
He has a passion for running and runs every morning and night and notices her on the roof and they soon become good friends, talking when they get the chance on her roof. Because of Kylie's rebellious side even though she doesn't paint anymore she does graffiti on abandoned city street walls, and Ethan (the boy) sees them once and says how good they are but she doesn't admit that she did them at first.
They start playing and basing their friendship on truth or dare. So they would always give each other the worst and most rebellious dares, and ask the most embarrassing truths. He tries to comfort her when she's sad about her parents’ treatment towards her, and she comforts him when he talks about his father's death. However, one of their dares get out of hand, and that’s when their friendship changes forever. Kylie dares Ethan to kiss a girl at a party they go to, and then Kylie thinks that he likes her because the kiss is long and passionate, and realizes that she loves him but thinks that he only sees her as a friend and becomes jealous, starting to ignore him. Disappointed by Kylie’s behaviour towards him Ethan starts dating the other girl.
This makes Kylie angry, and her treatment towards her parents and sister starts to worsen and they try to send her to boot camp but she runs away. There she mixes with a gang, who offer her money for prostitution. She agrees, one night won’t hurt right? However, when she goes back home the gang chases after her, searching for her. Ethan was rivals (turns out Kylie’s ex is in the rival gang) in his own gang against this one and when he finds out about this he tries to solve the problem which leads to a huge gang fight when his former gang finds out about this and joins him. Kylie’s ex gets killed in the fight. After a vicious bloody fight Ethan’s former gang will not let him leave the gang anymore, telling him they will kill his mother if he does. Because of this he breaks connections with Kylie and his mom and moves with them to Mexico for the next gang rivalry. Finally, after a horrible fight and Ethan is hurt the police gets involved and since Ethan is under 18 sends him to Juvenile Detention Centre for 10 months. During this time Kylie finds out and promises to wait for him. She gets worse everyday, and eventually her parents send her away to boot camp for 10 months. Ten months later they are back, and rejoin each other. Ethan is out of the gang because the rest of them end up in jail, and Kylie solves her family problems by finally talking and opening up to her parents when she breaks down. Kylie and Ethan rejoin, and she paints a picture of him, and in the end they take a run to feel “alive” again.
I know it is VERY basic but this is approximately what will happen in the book. There will be some intimate scenes and things, and more characters that I did not include here. But anyways, how is it? Comments and suggestions appreciated.
