How is the Honda Civic in terms of handling, acceleration, overall feel?

I have my driving test in a few days, and I own a Toyota Prius. However, I have to rent a Honda Civic because the DMV requires that I have a handbrake, for emergencies. This is very last minute, and I have been practicing on the Prius for months. Will they be similar to drive? Because I won't have very much time to practice. It shouldn't be too bad,

I guess I'm just wondering if the Civic's acceleration is jumpy and the brakes are really reactive. But it would help if someone has driven/is familiar with both cars.
