How is progress often measured?

Is this fair? Do you think that the present standards of progress are ultimately good, or bad for those whose lives are being impacted? Do a little research on the internet and come up with a specific example that supports your opinion (you might try researching changes multi-national corporations have brought to the developing world).

i am so stumped on this question please help me out
