How is it that a felon is not allowed to vote in most states, but the same

felon can pass laws in the Senate? I'm referring to the fact that Alaskan Senator, Ted Stevens, now a convicted felon will still be allowed to run for another term in office. How is it that there is no law prohibiting a felon from becoming a U.S. senator and making laws, but the same felon is not allowed to vote in most states?
