How important is my Mercury sign?

I am a cancer sun and a cancer moon, and a leo mercury.

How influential is that bit of leo in regards to my personality? I definitely feel like a cancer. However, not sure if it has to do with constantly being around leos (as my brother, dad, and most of my friends happen to be leos), but I do feel leo in some ways as well. Also, I was born on the edge of cancer, July 21st.
 
Mercury shows your intellect and how you communicate. In Leo it shows you probably make your mind up pretty quickly, often without all the facts; details may actually get in your way but you can get the big picture very quickly. People with this placement often think they have a high mental agility, this may not be justified. In arguments, logic can sometimes go out of the window.
