How important is it to read Photography books, and are there online courses

that would be as/more beneficial? Well right now I still consider my self an amateur at photography, though I am starting up my own business. I plan to take portraits and shoot weddings.

Anyhow, I was just wondering if it a necessity to read photography books such as "Understanding Exposure" and other photography books. One thing you should know is that I hate reading, I don't mind reading short articles at longest, but reading novels, and stories is usually out of the question. However, I do love photography, and really want to progress, so if it is pertinent to my learning than I suppose I could read a few books.

I was also wondering if online courses could be of any help. I thought this might be a good alternative since I do not like to read. I was hoping that there is a site out there that could be more helpful than reading said books. I was looking around for a site, but there are so many, and I would love if there was a general consensus on what site is the best.

Many thanks,

Cody
Thanks Deep Blue2! I did forget to add that I was planning to join PPA and WPPI withing the near future.

I do not want to come off as though I do not know anything about photography, as I do. But I do not want to sound as though I know it all either. I have taken a photography class once before where I learned several different elements such as composition and such. I have also taken a few years of Graphic Design where I learned other elements as well.

And don't worry, I do not shoot in auto ;)
