I have my up to date prescription, however the optician blokey said its prob not worth me getting contact lenses as i don't have lenses which are really strong. However I would like contact lenses, and they are made in my strength. Its asking for the base curve and the diameter and the sphere. (im guessing the sphere is the strength) there is only one option for base curve which is 8.60 and one choice for diameter which is 14.20
If i were to order these in my strength would they be likely to be comfortable to wear? im guessing yes as its not as if i could choose a different base curve etc.
Tips and advice greatly appreciated.

No, contact lenses need to be properly fitted. Just because they are the right prescription doesn't mean that they are the right fit. Just because the optician said it is not worth bothering with a contact lens prescription doesn't mean that you shouldn't wear them, but you do need a proper contact lens checkup and fitting before buying. Contact lenses may be a slightly different prescription to glasses. You could be wasting your money in buying some and damaging your eyes too. Get a proper check up - it doesn't have to be with your current optician.
