Good communication skills doesn't seem to go with the territory. I've had teachers who talked in a monotone and put me to sleep, even though I liked the subject. I've had other teachers who presented a lively discussion and liked a lot class participation. Another teacher behaved as if he had a big chip on his shoulders. Another teacher would show us how a problem was worked and then say any imbecile could see how this should be worked.

I did my best work with the second teacher, but that doesn't mean the other teachers were any less trained or skilled with mathematics. How important do you think it is for the math teacher to be skilled with communication?
