You don't have to read all of this btw, just answer the title question if you don't feel like reading much.
I've noticed that most people of below average to average intelligence seem to put a lot of emphasis on looks/personality and not a lot, if any, emphasis on intelligence.
Over the past couple of years I've come to realize that if I want to be with someone who has intelligence on my level(or above/around it), I have to lower my standards when it comes to looks and personality. Now when I say personality, I mean it's hard to find someone who is just as intelligent as I am, while also wanting them to be shy/outgoing/strict/whatever(just examples).
Now I am by no means an academic snob, I hang out with people who aren't smarter than me, as well as others who are much much much smarter than I am. It's just that when it comes to significant others, I have to be a little more picky since I date with intentions of a long-term, hopefully lifetime relationship(which I make clear during or before the date).
Intelligence has many forms, I am aware of this, but you can usually tell when someone is a complete idiot, and when someone is truly intelligent.
@DM - I don't like wasting my time with silly relationships that probably wont last more than a couple of months. When I date I look to see if the person has life-partner qualities in them, and that includes them being ready for a life time commitment.
It has been working pretty well so far. It's just that after so many dates/relationships with people that have sub-par intellect, I'm ready for something more serious.
Being in a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship, in my opinion, is for the insecure and co-dependent.
