I'm interested in hearing opinions especially from people who have learned a foreign language to an advanced level (appropriate for business and everyday life).
I'm wondering if I should also spend some time watching TV or movies (with or without subtitles). It is a lot more fun (especially now that I understand 70 - 80 % of what they are saying). I've heard it suggested before, that one could learn a language by constantly watching TV or movies. I'm guessing this suggesting is not coming from people who have actually used this method. I feel like when I watch TV or movies, it reinforces words that I alread know or have looked up once, but that it will not teach me *new* words. Do any of you actually believe that you can learn many *new* word from context?
