How has the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics been proven rigorously?

It is widely believed that the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics is a proven mathematical fact, much like, say, the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra. We know that Boltzman has offered a statistical mechanics explanation for the law, but it still does not consitute a "proof", without certain conditions being in place. I invite opinions on whether or not the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics is a "proven" fact, or it's conjectured to be true because emprical observations seem to confirm it.
