What I would like form anyone with ANY kind of music past is for you to write a short (or long) statement about how it has helped you in other areas of life. Whether it's school or work realated or just life in general. ANd if you have parents or friends that have anything to say that would be great too. I would like to make this more than just the local Bellevue area. If you know people out of the State that would have something to say that would be even better. I may not use EVERYONE'S but I will use most.
Here's an example of what one could be like:
"I can’t stress enough how important learning music has been for me as a student. And I’m disappointed to see music education disappearing from schools everywhere. Statistics show that kids who study music do much better academically on all levels. Music helps kids do better in math, develop thinking skills, and keep track of the complex movements of music that help them understand other sciences later on in life. And dare I mention that kids also meet friends, find role models, develop creativity, and enjoy themselves with music."
Let your voice be heard and help the thousands of students that can't help themselves. We are very lucky to live in a state with such great music programs. Let's help everyone else.
