How hard will it be to change aftermarket stereos?

So i already bought an aftermarket stereo whcih works great but my dad got the cheap one that doesnt ahve alot of features and we got it installed at circuit city. So i dont exactly know what has to be done but if i got a new stereo? would it just be wire swapping or would there be extra steps that i need to do?

It should be easy. Most after market stereos are all similar. Since circuit city already did all the wiring it should be easy. Most likely all you need to do is pop out the cheap stereo and see if the existing wire harness matches the wire harness on your new stereo. If they connect, which they most likely will, then you are set, just put it back in place. If they dont connect, you will have to do some re wiring, and all you have to do for that is match the wires to their color . That can get a little complicated, but its not too difficult, the stereos come with wiring diagrams that tell you how.

If have lets say a pioneer and you buy another pioneer just with more features it should be just a matter of pulling the old one out and plugging the new one in.
Shouldn't have to change the mounting cage or wires.

Now if you change brands of radios then you will most likely have change the mounting cage and rewire the adapter harness for the power and speakers.
Which shouldn't be to hard, just a matter of matching the color of the wires.
