how good is my guitar, yamaha g-225?

this is a verry old guitar that has been passed through my family and has finaly reached me, apart from a few scratches its in pretty good condition. ive just learnt to play and i saw a tutorial on youtube and the guys guitar sounded so much nicer. i know having nylon strings makes a huge difference. but what i really want to know is how far up there is my guitar, is it a Ferrari or a Daihatsu. btw its worth between $100 and $200 if thats any help. thanks
