Nothing wrong with Kx85s especially for someone wanting a 2 stroke who is only starting out racing. The bike is just a little easier to ride than the likes of the yz85 and the cr85 as the kx has a power valve which makes power delivery a bit smoother. I would not suggest the bike for a top mx rider without it having work done on it as straight from the box the yz and cr are just a bit better. My sons both raced kx85cc for a number of years till they needed a bit more power down the straights and got an offer from Honda so moved to Honda. But the kx is a good bike and can be what you want it to be if you work at it
