...coursework) :)? Hey thanks to everyone who takes the time to read through my question, if you could leave a comment that would be very appreciated as I need this for my Film Coursework :)

My research is how female roles (explanation: the characters that women act in films) have changed over time in Hollywood blockbusters.

I talk about four films
Alien 1
Lara Croft Tomb Raider
Transformers 1
Kick-Ass
(due to stars i will spell it with dots (A . S . S) I don't think i will get in trouble as it's the film's name.

I state how in Alien the main character is a female called Ripley she is known throughout the film world as being one of the most inspirational females in film history. She is one of the first females to defeat the monster where all the men are destroyed and prove that not all females are damsels in distress. BUT critics have stated the only way she got this role was by taking on male characteristics

Lara Croft's character backs up how women can be dangerous and dominant without taking on male traits but on the flip side she has to become overly sexualized to gain any attention (evidence: very short, tight clothing and a random shower scene where she is naked which adds nothing to the narrative) but she does show how female roles have progressed headlining her own movie.

Transformers- Megan Fox: Possibly a step back for females in big films as she is clearly there solely as eye candy due to her being insanely attractive and sexy. (I'm not complaining btw)

Kick-Ass- Hit-Girl: I state how in my opinion Hit-Girl is currently the best female role to ever appear on screen. She has amazing fighting skills, destroys everything in her path, could easily beat the snot out of any man or woman. But most importantly the fact that she can do all this while being 'just a little girl'. Nobody expects it and proves that any female even a 13 year old girl can do anything a man could do and better (not to mention having an extreme vocabulary ...yeah she's awesome).
In addition she cannot be sexualized such as Lara due to her age and she doesn't take on any male traits like Ripley. This is why i think Hit-Girl is currently the best female role to be seen in any movie.

If you readers have anything to add on to what I have mentioned above it would be great. :D
Thank you very much
