3 years ago I told a friend I would run a marathon with her. She has since gone on to compete in Triathlons and then moved onto Ironman competitions, she won her age group in Hawaii (she's pretty Bad A..) I'm finishing up college and looks like my promise is coming due, I am looking to schedule and start training.
I have run all though college on a division 1 track team, as a sprinter and am in the military as well, so I am in really good shape. I just have never competed in anything longer then 400m and never ran more then 8 miles. I have a BS in exercise physiology and a BS in nursing so I know the training principles and health concerns. I plan on consulting with our cross country coach for workouts and training.
My question is, how long should I give myself to train so I can finish in a respectable time, aka, she won't pull my man-card after/I won't hang my head in shame. Also, any suggestions for marathons around that time period?
Cheers,
