How far go a ford explorer go on a tank of gas?

I was wondering how much difference it would be in gas mileage versus a saturn ion. My ion get's 32 mpg on the hwy. The explorer gets 20 mpg hwy. Would that be alot of money? Say you were driving like 1000 a month.
 
all throes are recommended mpg and explorer will be about 20 and lose to the ion driver as a lot to do with how far any of them go
 
Here is the best way to look at it.

20/32 ~ 2/3 = 66%

The explorer will cost you 34% more money in gas to drive.

So the if the ION used 31.25 gallons the explorer will use 50 gallons.

so 30 @ $4 = $120
50 @ $4 = $200
 
the explorer will go approximately 400 miles on a tank of gas i have an f150 and they are the same vehicle same motor, gas tank, all the way up to the suv part of the explorer
