how far do you have to be for a pregnancy test come up positive?

i took 2 tests sunday and both were positive. i took them cuz i was 3 days late with my period. i had a "period" the start of this month but only lasted a day....i took a test a week or so later and it was negitive. so could i be farther along then 3 weeks? im waiting to see the dr...i have to fill out papers and they are coming to me in the mail. so i havent been to the dr yet.
 
When you miss your period then you can take a test for an accurate result. For most women they will get a positive at 4 weeks from LMP.
 
you will have to go to the doctors and get an ultrasound to know for sure.
