when gone for the day (or night)? I have two spayed cats. My house is suburban, near a big city but with woods and farmland very close. My cats are midlife and live outdoors except when they come in to be fed. Sometimes they leave for a day or more, but they always come home. How far does a cat travel when gone like that? I assume they are not visiting a boy friend since they are spayed.

My spayed female has had boyfriends, she just doesn't get pregnant...my 4 cats have their beds and shelter in a utility room off my patio and I too have a huge yard at a dead end...I have seldom caught them more than 1000 feet from my door...but of course remember cats live secret lives sometimes...if there is little traffic around your yard they are safe...the spayed cats are not so aggressive either, if male...don't you wish we could ask them where they have been? lol

They could be as near as a few doors down munching on a neighbor's food for a little while, or they may travel around 1-2 miles if there's an abundant supply of mice or chipmunks to catch somewhere. They usually don't go too awful far when they're altered.

In my opinion they stay close enough to run to their home if they need to. I used to love seeing the reflection of my old kittys eyes in the tree above my driveway when I came home at night.

My spayed female cat has been seen as far away as three blocks from my house. I live in a small village and three blocks is the edge of town, so I presume she is hunting in the grain fields too.
