How effective is writing recognition on T/X?

Getting my first PDA, I'm concerned about giving up the convenience of being able to scribble notes in my franklin planner and was thinking to truly adopt this new technology, I'll need to have a product that can effectively recognize my writing.

How is this feature? Do you need to learn the graffitti language?

Thanks,

AK

Millions of people use graffiti easily. There are other programs such as TealScript which allows you to use more natural character recognition but it is a one at a time recognition.

You input one letter at a time. To speed things up there are word complete programs that will show you a listing of words after so many characters have been inputted and you can then select that word rather than having to type in the whole thing.

I know of no program that will fully recognize handwritten characters that is compatible with the TX. Decuma can be used on other devices but I don't think it's been updated for the TX....it's the closest to handwritten recogntion.

Hey MooseMan, just on the note of word completion you were talking about ... do you happen to know of any good word completion programs that won't drain memory and can be used in any program (such as Agendus, Memo or even DocumentsToGo)??

I was trying to track down CIC's WordComplete, but can't find it anywhere ... on their site it says that they've withdrawn from the PDA business. And apparently with TextPlus, there's some compatability issues with the new Palms ... If it helps, I've got a T|X

I don't know about the T/X either as I own a T3. But I also have TextPlus installed and it works with evrything including Agendus & Docs To Go. I don't think I could get along without it. It can be disabled in specific apps if there's a conflict or if it's just irritating.

Grafitti isn't all that hard to learn. There used to be a graffiti-based game that came on the Visors I owned which helped you learn the characters. Don't know if that's still around, but that helped me get used to it pretty quick. Plus there's an onscreen keyboard you can use and aftermarket external keyboards aren't all that expensive if you want to do serious typing.

You can use Text Plus on the TX as long as you... a) lock it with Rlock and b) disable it for Blazer (this means that rathar than enabling it for all apps, you selectively enable those apps where you want it to work). I have it set for DateBk6, Tasks, Meteor, Memo, DayNotez, and NoteStudio.
