You can take it in fall 2009 as long as you allow time to get your scores before your application deadline. It wouldn't hurt to schedule to take it this summer, though, just in case you have to miss the exam or retake it for any reason. Also, some test centers are booked for months in advance, so if you haven't already called to check for available dates, you might want to do that soon, as you might not have much choice left for when to take it.
