how does tmobile Prepaid Mobile Broadband Pass work?

It says $30 prepaid card
"?Use to purchase 1GB of data
?Or use to refill your 30 day month pass"

So what happens if i go after a month does my unused portion of 1gb remain or does it expire after 30 days??
