I know, kinda long but please read...=]
I get to drop German at the end of this year and replace it with another subject. One of them is a research project of my choosing and I came up with trying to live as much like an average Japanese person as possible for these reasons:
1. To see how much of there wieght, skin hair is down to genetics. I know that not all Japanese people are small and skinny etc, but I've seen the question quite a bit and want to see once and for all.
2. See how long it takes to learn the language when ,lets say, partially emerged in the culture I'll explain lower down)
3. Kinda similar to one, to see if my health improves when following a japanese diet, it's meant to be one of the healthiest in thw world.
4. I've read that Japanese teenagers study and work hard, so I'm thinking of following a similar work ethic and see if my grades improve.
How I'm gonna go about it:
1. Eat a Japanese style diet, exorcise and beauty regime and try and use Japanese products where possible.
2. it's going to be impossible for me to live in a solely Japanese enviroment, but things like movies, I'll watch the Japanese dub, try and read Japanese books, study the language like mad, when i get better use the Japanese version of yahoo, talk to Japanese people etc. By doing all I can, I want to see how much my language skills improve.
3. Same as one really.
4. Study harder.
I plan on recording this by taking daily photos to see if i change, (should be interesting anyway to see me go from 15 to 16), writing a blog/diary style thing, and doing general research. I would love to go to Japan it's self but that's almost certainly not gonna happen. Oh, and I'm a British teen, a million miles away from the lifestyles led by Japanese teens.
So what do you think? Would it work? I know this is kinda following a stereotypical life of a teen, I guess that's the point. I may of got some of the points wrong and if so feel free to correct me, but in a nice way. I'm not trying to be malicious.
Also, anyone have any knowledge or sites that would help me learn what life is like for the average Japanese teen. Thanks=]
