How does the trading of blue chips, like Toyota, on Japanese stock indexes

Alicia, I wasn't suggesting that individual stocks had such an effect. However, I heard earlier that the Yen was catching quite a bid anterior to Japanese banks and blue chips trading on the Japanese bourses.

I'm curious as to why the mention of the Dollar -Yen in the same sentence as blue chip trading on the Japanese bourses. How do the two correlate?
