How does recycling benefit the environment?

Not all things are good to recycle, like Styrofoam. It pollutes so much to recycle that it is just best to avoid using it all together and don't put it in your recycle bins.
Plastic sucks too, but at least it doesn't end up in a landfill for eternity.

Easy and simple:
If you recycle, it reduces the energy to make brand new products. Not only that, if we recycle things, it keeps the land fills from piling up, and sometimes end up on the ocean and streams. Those big factories don't always help making new products either as it pollutes the air to make new things other than just recycling things and save more energy. Also, if it deals with trees (like paper) if we recycle paper, it means that we won't have to cut down so many trees. Trees are good to the environment by helping keep our air fresh and clean. It provides homes to animals and shade on those hot summer days. So, trees=good. no trees=bad.

I hope this helped you understand more about recycling. It's always a good thing and every time you do; you should feel good because it helps the environment more and more =]
