How does plea bargaining conflict with the "truth seeking" purpose of the courts?

What's the good of it and the bad? There are instances where it's a good thing and other times where it's a bad thing.

Given the overwhelming number of prosecutions in every jurisdiction, it vastly improves efficiency and saves resources, so justice systems can focus on the few real "truth seeking" trials. Guilty people are pleading guilty and being punished; what's wrong with that? Sure, maybe they don't plead to all their criminal conduct, but if the system is so overwhelmed it collapses, then lots of guilty people would walk free.
