My boyfriend had been living in this place since February, 2011 and I recently moved in their in August. The agreement from the renter was that on the first of every month we pay five hundred dollars and that pays for the month we are there. We asked him for the landlord leasing code and for a written lease, both of which he never wrote up or gave to us. The weekend before Halloween(somewhere around that time) we had a few family members and friends come over, because there were three extra cars in the driveway, the landlord flipped and cussed out my boyfriend. We told him that night that we were leaving and since had been looking for a place to go. A week before December he told us that his house was going into shares and he needed the money sooner, we didn't agree to give him the money because we were planning to leave and didn't have it. We finally found a place this month and moved three days after the first. I did the math. 500/month/four weeks/seven days=$53.57
We gave him a hundred because we aren't the type of person to leave someone high and dry.
But he is still expecting us to pay him $500.00 for his month, though we do not live there and he claims it's the Oral Agreement and because there is no prove of anything he can use this against us. I feel as though it will be a he says, she says agruement. I am not sure how to prove that we asked for a lease. The only proof I really have is the the other roommate clarifying the agreement and that he knows we gave thirty days notice.
